March 2021: The DDOT team has developed a design concept to repurpose the segment of S Street, NW bounded by New Jersey Avenue, Florida Avenue, and Rhode Island Avenue. The layout strives to accommodate cyclists and pedestrians and add additional public green space while remaining consistent with the viewshed line established in the L’Enfant Boundary plan (as required by the DC Historic Preservation Office). DDOT welcomes comments from the community on the concept as the design team continues to prepare detailed design for the S Street Revitalization project. January 2021: DDOT has selected Alternative 2 to move forward to design, after extensive community input. Design will be complete by the end of 2021. Alternate 2 concept plans can be viewed here.
